As a PHPEngineering Manager, you will be the champion of all PHP related initiatives, making sure state-of-the-art tools, techniques, and standards are employed to deliver projects efficiently and that customers are presented with pertinent technical solutions.

While being a skilled technologist, an engineering manager is also a people manager and will make sure the tech group they coordinate is motivated and well-equipped to handle any technical challenge that comes their way. In a nutshell, you will be both an ambassador and a governor of technology.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience leading and growing teams of PHP engineers, as well as some practice with helping teams of any size adopt modern technologies while navigating delivery trade-offs.

As the department leader, you will:

• Stay up-to-date with the latest tools, techniques, and components in the PHP ecosystem and find ways to incorporate them into our portfolio;
• Define technical goals & processes for oneself and the PHP department;
• Act as a mentor for the PHP technical leads;
• Work with the tech leads team to guide development projects through initial architecture design and occasional tech reviews;
• Work with the tech leads team to build education and certification paths for the team;
• Work with the tech leads team to conduct technical, face-to-face interviews with candidates and support the recruitment processes.
• Define and coordinate R&D initiatives and help build platform teams on PHP-related topics.

What you’re bringing to the table:

• Relevant experience providing technical leadership for technical teams of any size;
• Practical experience with PHP development - coding, estimating, or architecting;
• Experience with any of the 3 major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP);
• Optional, yet a big plus: knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies (preferably k8s) and microservices architectures;
• Experience working with Agile teams.
